Lines in a photographlead the eye in the direction they are going. For my photographs I generally tried to get the lines pointing in the direction of the bottle. I the picture with the stairs I feel I did a good job with the lines, but that there wasn't enough emphasis on the bottle, and I couldn't figure out how to fix that. I personally like the picture with the shades as lines because it also brings in the element of lighting.
